The message from God to Jonah is one of grace, mercy and judgment. And, ultimately, a message requiring a response of repentance from the people who had sinned against God, namely the Ninevites. The Gospel’s message is the same to us as people in the 21st century: full of grace, mercy, and judgment requiring a response of repentance from us.
